The love of Jesus, My Kuya and Best Friend
A Reflection for Valentine’s Day: The Love of Jesus, My Kuya and Best Friend
Valentine’s Day is often celebrated with flowers, chocolates, and sweet words, but at its core, it is about love—the greatest kind of love that we have ever received: the love of Jesus. He is my best friend, my Kuya, my everything. His love is constant, never failing, and always present, whether in joy or sorrow. He loves me not because of what I do but simply because I am His.
Saint Valentine, whose name is remembered today, was a witness to this same love. He lived during a time when expressing Christian love and faith was dangerous, yet he remained faithful. He helped others experience God's love, performing marriages in secret and caring for the persecuted. His life reminds me that love is not just about grand gestures but about selfless giving, even in small ways.
As I celebrate this day, I am deeply grateful for the people who have shown me love—family, RVM Sisters, friends, professors, and even those who have prayed for me in silence. Through them, I feel Jesus’ embrace, His reminders that I am never alone.
And so, in return, I extend this love to others—not just in words but in action. May I love not just when it is easy, but even when it is difficult. May I be patient, kind, and selfless, reflecting the love I have received from Jesus, my Kuya.
May this Valentine’s Day be a celebration of love that does not fade, a love that gives and forgives, a love that mirrors Christ’s own heart.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
PRAYER
O glorious advocate and protector, Saint Valentine
Look with pity upon our desires,
hear our prayers,
relive by your intercession the miseries
under which we labor;
and obtain for us the divine blessing,
that we may be found worthy to join you
in praising the Almighty for all eternity,
through the merits of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.
