The Smile of Jesus in Holy Week

The Smile of Jesus in Holy Week

Along the silent road of sorrow
where shadows gather on the hill
Jesus walks beneath the burden
of the cross He chose to bear.

Thorns rest upon His wounded brow
blood falls like quiet prayer;
yet in the depth of all His suffering
a gentle smile is there.

Not a smile that hides the anguish
nor one that denies the pain
but a smile born out of mercy
a love the cross cannot restrain.

He sees the world before Him:
its wounds, its fear, its sin
and still He smiles with tender grace
inviting hearts to come within.

Oh Holy Week, so full of mystery
you whisper truths so deep
that love can shine through darkest nights
and hope can wake from sleep.

For even on the road to Calvary
when heaven seemed so far
the Savior’s quiet, faithful smile
became our guiding star.

And from the cross He still is smiling
not in triumph yet, but love
for He knows the dawn is coming
and resurrection waits above.
